On and on..

March Madness updates:
Rach: 24
Brad: 22

Rachael remains in the lead!

Pretty disappointed about the fact that I picked George Mason, Kent State, and Boise State as my upsets...those choices didn't exactly work out well. Still in the lead...that's all that matters!

Tomorrow is Easter! First time way from Lafayette for an Easter, but thank goodness for friends here, we're having a brunch.

Even bigger thanks...because Jesus ROSE!! The whole reason for Easter. Remember that this weekend.

Have a wonderful day!

March Madness!

And so it begins...

Brad and I finished our brackets last night. We've decided to have a little healthy competition for the tournament. I've been pumped all day for the games to get started.

So far the score:
Rachael: 11
Brad: 9

WOOOOOO check who's winning!

We are only in the first round though, and I'm sure Brad knows more about the tournament than I do. I totally went off of Mike and Mike's Greeny...hopefully he didn't lead me astray.

Alright all, have a good night.

Who loves the weekends!! These kids!!

As promised, before and after pictures of one handsome man. Check out how scared he looks, he denies, but he was scared. The final product! Check out that short hair! He's cute! In addition, I'm pretty positive Evan has scored some major business with the other fellows for the future. We made a promise though, no more hair business in Katie and Evan's bathroom, any further appointments shall be held in our backyard. Seems only fair.
We've had a great week. It was busy, that's about all to remember, but it was great. The inspection really did go great, thankfully, and we have so little we have to worry about. I know it's not always this easy, but my goodness this process has been smooth so far. All that's left is to close on the 10th. It's less than a month away! We can't even believe it! Lately, our new hobby has been making lists of all the things we need to do or get together to make the house a home...but it already feels like ours! We drove by earlier today; every time we see it I get so excited!

Work this week was great for both of us. Brad will most likely be changing to days sometime in the next 6 months. This is pretty exciting news for him, he's really working hard, and it will be pretty neat for him to have some new projects to work on. On the hospital front, a nurse I really respect gave me some huge encouragement this week that just made the week for me. I love nursing and I appreciated her words so much!

On to the weekend, the best part of the week. Friday we both worked, boo work but oh well! Saturday evening, we headed over to the Bean's for a birthday celebration for Brad Bean. We had some fantastically delicious fajitas and banana cake which was AMAZING! We also had our traditional Guesstures tournament of girls against guys. I have to sadly report that we ladies did not have our game on. Multiple rounds may have occurred with NO answers. How does that happen? It was late, that's the only excuse I have. So fellas, I give it to you, you took one...but you better believe it's on next time. Maybe we just let the guys have it since we were celebrating Brad Bean's birthday.
Highlights:
  • Amy Bean's impressions of sneer and motorboat. Both = Priceless.
  • Shauna nearly running laps around the kitchen, for milk, that she couldn't find in the fridge.
  • Aaron setting records. (They were easy words)
  • I can't help but list the Banana cake as a highlight
  • Elizabeth coming clean about being a closet One Tree Hill fan, she was in good company.
  • The discussion that followed her admission, the pure raw emotion that One Tree Hill can get from Amy, Shauna, and myself
  • Blair and Shauna's Target shopping trip, that lead me to "need" an excursion on Sunday
All good things! A few more photos...

Sunday, Brad and I attended a forum about Turkey after morning service. Our church has partnered with Turkey in an attempt to truly serve on mission with the Turkish people. Of 52 million Turks, their are reportedly only 3000 believers. WHOA. That's about how many attend our church on one Sunday of services. We found a ton of opportunities here in the States to learn about the Turkish culture and get involved, and then after some preparation we would love to head to Turkey on a trip through the church. It was so interesting. This week, I am hoping to go to the Turkish Women's Association in Austin; they have a weekly cooking class that is supposed to be an awesome opportunity to get to build relationships with these women here in Austin. I'm so excited! We'll have to fill you all in more about this later.

In final news, tonight was my first softball game! We won! It really was great to be back on the field! Brad is going to play from now on with our team. I'm glad! It will be a fun thing for both of us, I think he's pretty pumped! Better watch out world, the Allison's are gonna kick some bum.

Just work ahead for this week! Take care!

Yea!

Inspection went great!! Woohoo! Pretty stinking exciting! We are T-Minus 1 month from closing!

Even better news...my adorable husband finally gave into some begging of his wife and let Mr. Evan Michner cut his hair! A big thank you from me to Katie and Evan for convincing the big man to fight his need for the Victor hair cut. And a big thank you to the one and only Bradley Allison, for giving into your needy wife and her love of short hair. You are a good man! :) Pictures may follow...but I couldn't bear to steal the thunder of Part II of Emich's story with stolen pictures.

We also went furniture shopping today, so fun! It's hard to decide what would work quite yet though, as we've only been in the house for a grand total of maybe 45 minutes thus far in our lives!

All for now. Have a great week!

We have a HOME!!!

So our big news...We bought a house!!

There is just such an amazing story to go along with it, so I have to share it with all of you.

Yesterday, we went on our 2nd day of house hunting with Richard. At the beginning of the day we were pretty sure that by the end of the day we would be placing an offer on the house we had liked last Monday when we went out. We truly loved that house, so we started the day comparing every new house to that one. We went to four and then decided to swing by this new house that had only been on the market 3 days. All three of us weren't expecting much, mainly because there wasn't a ton of information provided about the home. Well, when we got there the owner happened to be home, who is a very sweet older man. He allowed us to come in and take a look around even though he was there while we did so. We ABSOLUTELY loved it! I mean, I could tell that Brad was really excited about this one, Richard was smiling and nodding at us, and I knew I liked it. Well, on our way out, the realtor for that home called Richard, (he had called her in order to ask if we could go in, before we knew that the owner was there) and she told him that if we intended to put an offer in we would have to do so by 6pm because they already had two offers and tonight the decision was to be made. TALK ABOUT PRESSURE.

After we left the house, we decided to swing by the first house that we liked originally, and we still loved it. We left there and really had not made a decision because we truly liked them both so much, and there was so little we could say about either that was bad. We decided we needed to refuel and ran to Rudy's for lunch. While there, we talked with Richard, and attempted to make a Pro/Con list for both houses, which basically turned out to be a Pro list for both. We still had some hesitations about the prices and the difference in the mortgage and all the crazy adult business that I didn't want to mess with of course. We decided to drive by both homes again, and to try to go into the new house one more time before the afternoon was over. We also called Janet, who is in charge of our whole mortgage deal, to ensure everything was good on our end if we decided to make an offer.

Well, we got to the house, and the man was still there, and being the sweet man he is, he let us invade one more time. While we were there, he chatted both Richard and us, and we just decided that we had to put an offer in. There was just something about the home we loved. We left around 3:15 knowing we had to have the offer in at 6. Richard left us and said he'd call as soon as it was ready. So, we went home and spent some time praying about the whole thing and decide that if this was what God wanted, we would put an offer in, but because it was a little pricey we would not counter-offer at all. If it wasn't accepted the first time, then this was not the house for us.

Well, the realtor extended until 6:15 so we could get our offer in. We signed at 6:10, and Richard dropped it off to her in front of the neighborhood where the house is. She was on her way to have the owner make a decision. So...then the waiting game, and man it was kinda scary. A whole mix of excitement and fear all at the same time. Then at 8, I got a little anxious and decided to call Richard and see if he had heard anything. So here's the cool part!
Me: Richard, just wanted to know if you had heard anything or if they were making a decision tonight?
Richard: I need you to do something, call this number and just speak with whoever answers?
Me: Do I need to call you back?
Richard: Yep, give me a call back....

Mr. H: Hi, how can I help you?
Me: Mr. H, this is Rachael, I met you today with my husband?
Mr. H: Rachael the nurse?
Me: Yep, that's me.
Mr. H: Well Rachael, I told Richard I wanted to speak with you. I have some things to tell you. First off, I think that God's hand is in every situation.
Me: Yes sir, I completely agree.
Mr. H: Then there are 2 things you need to know.
Me: (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH in my mind)
Mr. H: First, Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, and I serve him in everything I do. I should have told you that earlier today.
Me: Sir, that makes me so excited! Brad and I both have relationships in Jesus and we want to serve him!
Mr H: Then secondly, I want to tell you that this home is now your home to serve the Lord in because you won, and it's yours!
Me: Oh my goodness thank you so much!
Then we continued to chat just for a minute and he said that he would like it if Brad and I would join him at a special musical service his church has on Easter Sunday. I definitely agreed!

It turns out, that when Mr. H called Richard to tell him that he liked us "kids" and that we were getting the house. Richard told him that he had worked with a couple of our friends and that we were all friends from a church and a Bible study. Mr. H then asked if we were Christians and Richard and he said yes, so Mr. H asked if he could have the honor of telling us himself that we got the house. Richard said yes, and that was right when I called.

So....wow! It was a crazy overwhelming and exciting day! We were so thankful for Richard and Janet and how fast they finished everything. We are even more thankful for the Lord and the way he opened doors for our very first home! We LOVE it! We just can't wait to move in and make it our own.

So now, we just have to go through a couple more steps to make sure all is well, and then on April 10th we close. We are just so blessed!

Here are some pictures from the website the home is posted on. They are tiny, but you can get the idea. As soon as we are able, I will take more and get them up. Hope the novel here isn't too long, but you just had to see one of our coolest stories ever. The Lord never ceases to amaze us. We prayed that if this home was not His will then that he would close the door. Instead, He gave us a home in the most amazing way, despite how little we deserve it. It just makes me want to start today having people over and using it for ministry. We're just pumped! Ok, hope you all have a wonderful week. Take care!
The front, we'll have to make it green, and work a little on the landscape, but it's in good shape. The office, which is directly to the left when you walk in the front door.
Dining area.
Back side of the house; Brad has already determined that he will be employing Aaron to help him work on the porch. Shauna and I made a deal about painting.
The living room off the kitchen.
Guest room #1.
Guest room #2.
The master bedroom, which I love!
Master bathroom, this picture doesn't exactly do it justice, but we definitely like it.
My FAVORITE part of the home, the kitchen!
I can't wait to have people over there!
The kitchen breakfast area.
This is right as you walk in the front door on the right. We're not sure what we will do in this area yet, but we have time.

Ok, that's all for now!
We had a HUGE day.

We'll share soon....

Updates!

These last couple weeks have been super busy, but we've had tons of fun!

Last weekend, we were off from Saturday until Tuesday together, and we were busy the whole time; it was wonderful! Saturday we had a Connections class at church, partnership (much like membership, different name) with the Stone. We're pretty pumped about that. Today, we have our second week, we're getting together today for some snacks and chats. Woohoo!

After the class, we headed over to the Peck family home for a nearly/newlywed cookout! It was great! Thanks to the almost Michner's we have a few pictures from the event! Thank you for letting us steal the pictures! We, the Allison's, along with the Michner's and Wahrer's are the three couples still meeting with our original small groups from last semester, with the new couples from this semester, it's been awesome to meet the new couples!
Brad, Brittany, and me as we were rocking out the Rock Band...or Rock Star..or whatever that game is called. I absolutely loved this game!Truly, I thought these two might break that poor trampoline.
Aww, the Michner's to be...May 31st going to be a fantastic day!
Our *hopefully* soon to be neighbors! These girls are so wonderful! As is Miss Amy, who happened to be MIA during the time of the picture above!
Cheesy picture!

Sunday, after church, we planned to relax. Instead we invaded Aaron and Shauna and headed to the park with them and the dogs. It was fun! It has been an absolutely gorgeous week of weather, and Sunday was no different.
Monday...we looked at homes with our realtor! Wow, it's overwhelming taking it all in! We went into probably 7-8, and picked out a few more to look at, and we found one that we are pretty excited about! I think the best part of me, is the location. It's in the neighborhood we thought we might end up in, but it's in the back, so it is quiet, and we would be on a cul-de-sac. I am trying not to get too attached quite yet. We're going tomorrow with Richard again to look at a few more, and then to consider putting an offer on this one. Please pray that we will make wise decisions on what God has planned for us over the next couple of weeks. We're excited though! It's great to feel like in just a few months we will have our own HOME, and we can buy our own furniture, and have company. I'm so pumped!

Work was great in the Rachael world. I've really been enjoying work, now that I'm on my own and I've able to feel competent. It's great. Poor Brad, he's tired quite often with his job, we'll be so glad when he's able to go back to a normal schedule!

This weekend just began, but we've had fun so far! Yesterday was 6 months together! Woooo! We were on opposite schedules it felt like yesterday, but we get to spend some quality time together all week while I have some days off! In the afternoon, I went to a softball practice for the Heart Hospital's team. I didn't realize how much I missed softball. It was so awesome to throw from the outfield, and pick up a bat. Then, Blair, Shauna, and I went shopping to San Marcos. It was great to have some girl time to just chat. Brad headed over to Adam and Blair's once I got home to watch the UFC (his new almost favorite thing) fight with Adam. This girl was in bed by 9pm! We're getting old fast!

Busy times but life is great! Big day ahead and big week of decisions for the house! I'll put pictures up if we decide to place an offer!

For Sarah and my family: the wedding pictures are at this website, although I don't think we can order from there http://delisaphotographyweddings.blogspot.com

Until next time...

6 months!!

We've been married 6 months today! WHOA! It's been the most amazing 6 months of our lives! The Lord truly blessed us when he gave us each other! :) I have more fun things to post, but I'm sleepy after working last night, and not much rest today, so update tomorrow! Hope everyone is well!
